9 Telephone phrasal verbs

In today's post, we are going to encounter some phrasal verbs.
 you must be wondering 'what is a phrasal verb'? and 'why do we use it'?

The phrasal verb is a verb with a preposition or adverb or both, the meaning of which is different from the meaning of its separate parts like give up, take off etc.
 Note:- The both verbs give and take have their own meaning. when preposition came after these verbs that changed the meaning of these verbs. Give up means to admit defeat, Take off means to remove something.  
The phrasal verbs are used in our everyday English conversation.if you really want to level up your spoken English then you have to start using them.

There are more than thousands phrasal verbs in English we can't learn them in a day but gradually, let's get started with 9 Telephone phrasal verbs.

1. Pick up:- To answer the call

फ़ोन उठाना 

Exp:- I rang him many times but he didn't pick up my call.

2. Break up:- Become inaudible over the phone, usually because of a bad connection

तकनीकी खराबी होने के कारण आवाज़ साफ ना आना 

Exp:- your voice is breaking up, could you repeat again?

3. Call up:- call someone on the phone

 किसी को  फ़ोन करना 

Exp:- My brother called me up last night to tell me bad news.

4. Hand up:- End a telephone call by putting the phone down 

फ़ोन काट देना या रख देना 

Exp:- He hung up the phone while his father was talking to him. 

5. Hold on:- Wait for a short time 

कुछ समय के लिए प्रतीक्षा करना 

Exp:- Could you hold on a moment? while I'm checking your details.

6. Speak up:-  Speak Louder

  तेज से बोलना 

Exp:- Can you speak up a bit? you're not audible.

7. Pass on:- To communicate ( to convey) a message to someone else

 किसी को फ़ोन के जरिये सन्देश पहुँचाना 

Exp:- Will you pass on my message to him?

8. Call back:- To return a phone call

दुबारा फ़ोन करना 

Exp:- I'm a bit busy right now, I'll call back you as soon as I get free from the office.

9. Conference call:- A phone call that involves three or more people

फ़ोन पर एक साथ तीन या अधिक लोंगो से बात करना

Exp:- My mother prefers to do a conference call in order to invite the group of people.
